A couple of girls I am training with have been at schools that really push and encourage using active learning strategies in lessons - particularly Kagan strategies. Neither of my placement schools have mentioned this at all, so it's not something I have a great deal of knowledge of or experience with. This week I am going to try a couple of the activity ideas they have shared with me, and see how I get on!
Tomorrow my Year 7s will be trialling 'Numbered Heads', and my Year 9s 'Give One, Get One'. I'm excited to see how this goes, but I think it will be trial and error at first as I have never seen these activities modelled. Fingers crossed it goes well!
